Caleb Jones | PERMANENTLY Replacing Yourself With A Better Version

PERMANENTLY Replacing Yourself With A Better Version

Reading Time – 5 minutes

As you may or may not be aware, I’m working like crazy on a goal (one big goal with several sub-goals) that I’ve been focusing on for many years now.

It’s a huge, long-term goal that’s mostly a financial goal with a bunch of numbers and business/investing configurations that I don’t discuss publicly because it’s unique to me and won’t matter much to you.

The deadline for this goal is April 20th 2026, which is the day I turn 54 years old (I’m about to turn 53 next month) and move into the next phase of my life.

This means I have only one year left to hit this goal.

Just one little year.

It’s a huge goal so that’s not a lot of time.

This deadline really lit a fire under my ass about two years ago when I saw I had only three years left to get this all done.

So, over the past two years, I have moved Heaven and Earth to re-orient my entire life to ensure I hit this goal. I’ve made changes in my financial life, business life, woman life, fitness life, time management, five flags configurations, and even living conditions.

To say I’m not fucking around about this goal would be an understatement.

Over the last eight months or so, I’ve been doing a loose series of videos over at my Alpha Male 2.0 YouTube channel about making permanent changes in your life by killing your current self and replacing that person with a new and superior version of you.

If you want to make little improvements to your life, you don’t need to do this. But if you want massive, sweeping advances in any area of your life, and you want to make sure these changes stick permanently (instead of losing 30 pounds only to gain it all back in two years, as just one example), this is indeed what is required.

You have to take your current self and completely destroy him.

I’ve been talking about these topics not just for you guys in my audience, but for me as well.

This is because when people state some huge goal that they could “never” do (“I could never get a six-pack,” “I could never make $500,000/$1,000,000 a year!” “I could never be location-independent and move to another country!”) they’re right. If you’re nowhere near that big goal, that means YOU can’t do it.

But that’s okay because you can kill the current pussy version of you who can’t do it and replace him with a better version of you who CAN accomplish those things.

I’ve seen hundreds of people do this throughout my life, including myself (I actually did it more than once).

And again, I’m talking to myself here. The financial benchmarks I want to hit were not accomplishable by the Caleb in 2018 who set most of these goals. So I’ve had to work very hard to kill 2018 Caleb and replace him with the person I call True Caleb.

This is also the reason I’ve had so much trouble losing weight throughout my adult life. I managed to kill my old self a few times in the past and replace him with a guy who was much better at women, business, money, and even health, but not any better at losing body fat and keeping it off.

This is yet another reason why I need to murder fatass 2018 Caleb and replace him with True Caleb who has no problem with things like fasting for 82 hours straight, fasting all day several times a week, keeping eating days to well under 2200 calories, doing a 30-minute full-body stretching routine every day even when he doesn’t feel like it, virtually never eats sugar, and all kinds of other things 2018 Caleb simply doesn’t have the ability to do and has never done in his entire life (yet True Caleb does these things all the time now with no major problems).

Here’s the problem, as I’ve discussed in those YouTube videos on the topic (and I will do more on this topic on both of my YouTube channels and my blogs because it’s so important), your old self doesn’t want to die.

Just like any other living organism, your old self will do everything in his power to defend himself and attack you at every turn to make sure you don’t kill him. He wants to LIVE!

In the book The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks, he calls these “Upper Limit Problems.”

This means, for example, when you’re about to break through your weight plateau, something comes up in your life where you “have to” go out to a fancy buffet with your friends/family and you gain 10 pounds of scale weight in one sitting.

Or when you’re about to start your own business on the side and then suddenly you get really sick.

There are so many examples of this, and you’ve probably experienced them yourself when you tried to make a really big positive change in your life

2018 Caleb isn’t quite dead yet, but he’s battered, bloody, bruised and he knows he’s in very big trouble. At key points in my personal and financial growth over the past two years, including as recent as a week ago, he’s done things like:

  • Made me very sick for no reason as soon as I was about to hit a hugely important weight milestone.
  • Distracted me with big but irrelevant life problems right as I was going to hit huge business goals I’ve never hit before.
  • Tried to distract me with some very beautiful, easy (for me) women as soon as I made major changes in my schedule so that I could focus on business growth more consistently.

And on and on.

Your old self knows you better than anyone else. He knows exactly what you want, what you crave, what you’re afraid of, what you hate, and what will distract you.

He also has a decent level of control over your physical body, so he can give you laryngitis right before a game-changing business meeting, make sure you stay up all night, or give you a serious flu right before the most important day of your life.

The solution to this?

You keep at it. Like Sean Connery said in the movie The Untouchables, if he brings a knife, you bring a gun, and if he puts you in the hospital, you put him in the morgue.

So if he makes you sick when you really need to be working on your big goal, you say, “Okay asshole, I was planning on working 2 hours on this goal today, but now I’m going to work 4 hours, even while I’m sick, so get ready to feel like shit for no reason.”

Or

“Okay shithead, I was going to fast twice this week. Now I’m going to fast three times.”

You get the idea.

You don’t let him win.

Just keep going.

And eventually, he will die.

I know this works because I’ve done it at least twice before.

This time is harder because the leaps I’m attempting to make are quite large (at least for me, these things are all subjective) and because I have a compressed time frame with that April 2026 deadline.

Will I hit my big April 2026 goal? I don’t know, but the odds are good, because it’s all I’m working on and all I’m focusing on.

But one thing I know for absolutely sure is that by April of 2026, 2018 Caleb will be dead and True Caleb will be running the entire show.

Frankly, 2018 Caleb is almost dead now and I’m pretty sure he’ll be dead by the end of this summer at the latest.

This means that even if I don’t 100% hit that April 2026 goal, it will be easy to do afterward if needed because I’ll be 100% True Caleb by then for whom these goals are quite easy.

It’s weird. 2018 Caleb is watching me type these words about him dying right now.

I can feel him inside me as he watches what I say about me killing him.

He’s screaming at the top of his (now punctured and bloody) lungs saying things like, “We make plenty of money already! We don’t need anymore! What the hell are you doing???” and “No one cares if we’re overweight! Your life won’t change at all if you lose more weight!” and “We don’t have to work this hard! Take some more time off! This is stupid!” and “What if all this shit doesn’t work, Caleb?!? It’ll be a huge waste of time you idiot!”

Then when that doesn’t work, because it doesn’t anymore, he changes tactics and flashes images in my mind of things like big-breasted Instagram models, bowels of amazing homemade mac and cheese, and Baldur’s Gate 3.

“Bro, I love you,” he says, “You can have all of that right now… Wouldn’t that be amazing? It’s so easy… just pick up your phone and…”

And then I smile, tell him to go back into his corner, and I keep at it.

As they said in the movie Dragonslayer, I will win, and the beast will die.

I’m so excited for next April.

The process you described where your unconscious (“2018 Caleb”) creates physical symptoms to stop you sounds a lot like TMS[0]. You might be interested in the work of Dr. Sarno[1] or the structured educational program[2]. They’re more geared toward sufferers of chronic pain and illness (again, fabricated by the unconscious) but it sounds like you’ve been experiencing that as well.

I have not been suffering any of that, but I will take a look. I have a feeling his content is more for unhappy/depressed people.

Unbelievably valuable advice. Always happy to know your mentors are going through struggle to improve too and the advice comes from a real place. Killing our old selves together and onwards to our True Selves! The future is bright.

Context: I’m a specialist who creates ultra-high-performing individuals in a variety of fields. I often recommend my clients to Calebs material on dating. This is an interesting read. What you describe are the symptoms of a Parts Conflict, specifically that there is a “towards / away from” split. This process can be accelerated to take less than a few weeks, and to be painless using a technique called a Parts Integration. The following is all done in a state of deep hypnosis, either self induced or done by a professional. The rough outline is where you thank that Part, actualise it, then create a symbological abstration that represents its Domain, assign that to the Ideal Caleb, and allow the old you to retire, go on holiday, find a new job, or to become a sort of Advisor to other Parts of you. The processing contines in the background, usually for about a week with profound breakthroughs, and then Integration is complete and you can simply BE the Ideal Caleb from that point forward. Please feel free to email me if you’d like more details, happy to discuss.
