Why Bernie Sanders Is The Future

As I’ve said before, Bernie Sanders will not win the upcoming presidential election unless something amazing happens (like the Lizard Queen goes to jail, or Trump gets assassinated, or something similarly unexpected).

At the same time, Bernie Sanders is the future. Every year the US, as well as the rest of the Western world, moves a little to the left. That’s why, compounded over many years, the US of 2016 would look culturally unrecognizable to the average adult from the 1960s, 70s, or even 80s. The same is true of the average American adult magically teleported to the United States of 2030. It will be so left-wing people now wouldn’t even believe it, including today’s left-wingers.

As his supporters love to point out, Bernie Sanders has always been an extreme leftist, going all the way back to the 60s. Old videos of him are surfacing all over the internet, showing how his speeches from decades ago are pretty much identical to his speeches now. He’s always been a socialist, and he’s never wavered on this.

What they don’t point out, and what is most interesting to me, is during all of these decades of socialist rhetoric, Bernie Sanders was largely considered a crackpot. No one listened to the guy except for a tiny percentage of other extreme leftists. He accomplished nothing. Yeah, he became mayor of little town, and was elected to the US House and Senate because he’s from a very small, uber-left state, but he was still considered a crackpot all this time and no one in the mainstream ever listened to him. He was way too left, way too socialist.

Today, years later, in our new left-wing nation, this little socialist has millions upon millions of Americans who swoon at his every word. He’s gone from a wacky old man no one paid any attention to, to a political powerhouse within striking distance of the Presidency of the United States, even making life very difficult for the Lizard Queen who would otherwise have been carried to the presidency in a palanquin made of human skulls.

From nobody crackpot to the Savior of Us All…and he’s been saying the exact same hard-left stuff all along with no changes.

This is one of the many reasons why America is a left-wing country now, and will continue to move further left as time goes on.

Here’s a prediction you can take the the bank: Even if Donald Trump wins in November, within the next 2-3 presidential cycles, Bernie Sanders or someone just like him will be elected president. The United States will see an openly socialist president within the next 5-12 years. Count on it and don’t be surprised when it happens.

Good thing I’ll be long gone by then. 🙂

    CJ,
Man!, how I hate disagreeing with you.

Although, I get what you’re trying to say with the LGBT, gay marriage, feminist movement and other social programs gaining steam.

At the end of the day, the top of the pyramid power structure is still a male-centered, controlled, sexist, patriarchy.

Billion-dollar corporations (which control the Politicians) are still male-dominated. The masses are so easy to influence and control through entertainement, race, miseduaction, the media and (prescription) drugs.

Bernie Sanders is just a feel good drug ( like Obama)…all talk but no action…his ideas are not practical nor implementable.

“Male dominated” does not equal “not left wing.” Left wing countries like Sweden are male dominated too (for the most part). Two different things.

But do you think people will even be able to be left wing in the next 10 years? When the dollar finally crashes isn’t that sand castle going to go up in dust?

Do I think the entire world will go left-wing socialist? No. Most of the Western world will, but outside of the West much of the world will go corporatist or authoritarian-corporatist (like China and Russia) instead. And there will always be little pockets of comparative freedom to be found (like Hong Kong, Andorra, etc) or pockets of de facto freedom in tiny, third-world countries that cant afford big governments (Paraguay, etc).

But do you think people will even be able to be left wing in the next 10 years? When the dollar finally crashes isn’t that sand castle going to go up in dust?

Only temporarily. Most people like big goverment, so most people will look for governmental solutions if/when the dollar collapses. When the shit hits the fan you won’t see very many people saying, “We need embrace capitalism! That will fix this problem!”

I visit some early retirement blogs, and some people are worried about counting on Obamacare or Social Security in case they go away. In my mind there is no way either program will go away unless Obamacare is replaced with an even stronger government run healthcare system. All the left has to do is make a couple ads with some person who depends on those programs with some sad music in the background and they will win.

I’m a left winger and will vote for Bernie, but he’s certainly to the left of me.His biggest draw for me isn’t how left wing he is, but that he’s anti-establishment and anti-war. I don’t care that much about big government or small government, but stuff like wars for no reason and illogical laws to control what people can do with their own bodies (drugs, prostitution, etc.) drive me insane. We’re going to get big government no matter what, might as well spend those tax dollars on health care and education.

You’re correct. Yet another reason I’m leaving the country. (My monthly healthcare premiums just went up $60 a month last month for no fucking reason. Thanks, Obama.)

I can get high quality healthcare in Asia or S. America from fancy clinics made for Americans at a fraction of the cost I have to pay here in the US.

I don’t care that much about big government or small government, but stuff like wars for no reason and illogical laws to control what people can do with their own bodies (drugs, prostitution, etc.) drive me insane.

But you’re still a left-winger. You just described Ron Paul but I’m pretty sure you’d never vote for him.

    BD,
Could you briefly summarize your “near worst case scenario” (I mean: something close to worst-case, but still somewhat likely to happen) for the West in the next 15-20 years ?
How bad is it likely to get in the US and Europe economically (borderline communism ? third world-like poverty ?) and socially (male kids brainwashed into androgyny ? Alpha 2.0s castrated ? clients of prostitutes go to jail in all western countries ?…)
    Thanks.

    Hey BD,
Do you mean a real socialist, as in a person that believes in government ownership of the means of production?
I agree with you in the broad direction of things. I think that fascism is the more likely result. I’ll stipulate that the difference is mostly in the words and not the result.

No. Whenvever I use the term “socialism” I almost always mean Western European-style socialism, not dictionary socialism.

Western-E socialism means massive redistribution of income, a focus on the welfare state, near-unlimited free stuff for illegal immigrants, and government-enforced political correctness.

I think that fascism is the more likely result. I’ll stipulate that the difference is mostly in the words and not the result.

I disagree, because fascism would be the result if the culture was moving towards nationalism and authoritarianism, and it’s clearly not. (Donald Trump supporters are a minority percentage of the population.) Instead Western culture is moving towards socialism, political correctness, and globalism.

    But anything is possible.

If you’ve vote for Ron Paul over Hillary, I’m not sure why you self-identify as a liberal. Ron Paul is for teeny tiny government with zero welfare state and zero regulation.

Hey BD, when you talk about moving to Asia or other countries, does it bother you that you don’t speak the native language? And does it bother you that you would always be considered the outsider there? Or does everyone in Singapore (for example) speak English?

I too am not happy about the socialist state that USA is moving to. But on the other hand, all my friends are here. So I haven’t sold myself on moving out quite yet.

Hey BD, when you talk about moving to Asia or other countries, does it bother you that you don’t speak the native language?

    1. No. I personally know many white people who have lived in China (for example) for 15+ years and still don’t speak the language. They do just fine.

    2. English is a commonly spoken language in most of the countries I’m considering. People everywhere in Hong Kong speak English for example. It’s also super common in Singapore too, yes.

    3. I plan on learning both Spanish and Mandarin in my lifetime, at a rudimentary level at least. But even if I didn’t it still wouldn’t concern me.

And does it bother you that you would always be considered the outsider there?

No. I don’t give a shit. Introverted, outcome independent INTJ. I couldn’t care less.

I too am not happy about the socialist state that USA is moving to. But on the other hand, all my friends are here. So I haven’t sold myself on moving out quite yet.

I get tons of questions about this so my first post on “moving out of the US” goes up tomorrow. It will be part of a continuing series. I’ll go through all of this stuff in detail.
